Native Son - Part 1

After getting into small groups based on the section of the book you wrote about for today, we discussed the different settings and the ways in which they impact Bigger's thoughts and actions. We discussed the quotations you selected, and then focused on the movie theater scene. We commented on the film they were seeing, Trader Horn, the newsreel showing Mary Dalton, and Bigger and Gus's actions in the theater.

At the end of the period we'll read a poem by Langston Hughes: "Let America be American Again"
