The End of WWI and Current Considerations

Today, we'll begin by hearing Johnny Got His Gun. After a response, we'll consider which of the solders' stories we've heard over the last few days is most compelling (if you're interested, the band Metallica commented on this story and used footage from a film version of it in: Metallica's video for the song One  Here is a link to the lyrics.)

We'll then take a look at video footage concerning the end of the war by watching and taking notes from these excerpts from the documentary series, The Great War.

Hatred and Hunger

The Victors-29:40-38:00

Revenge-38:00-50:00

The War Without End

We Cannot Turn Back 3:40-11:45

Using the provisions of the Treaty of Versailles, We'll make some conclusions in our notebooks about whether or not WWI was a "just war" and where we're left when we consider America's role in the world.

We'll close by assigning the homework for the weekend which will ask you to explore some current foreign policy considerations of the United States.
