Today we heard the presentations about significant battles/moments from the War in the Pacific.
Bataan Death March
Battle of Midway
Battle of Guadalcanal
Battle of Leyte
Battle of Iwo Jima
We then watched an additional clip from Ken Burns' The War describing the firebombing of Tokyo and discussed "values in time of war".
We also watched clips describing the Battle of Okinawa and Japanese civilians preparing for war prior to evaluating the arguments for and against dropping the atomic bomb.
We finished by considering "what the unit was about" and trying to link different elements of the war to the ideas listed here:WW2 Summation
Homework for tomorrow is to work on the outline for the assignment that will finish the unit. You can find both of the assignment and outline format here: WWII Final Assignment 2017
