We'll transition from that activity to work with your group to find the voices that will be represented in the project that will close this unit. To do so, make a copy of the list below and share it with your group members. Then go back into your journals, texts, handouts, charts, and collages to explore the people, ideas, events, and documents that have been part of our unit. Each person is responsible for identifying at least 6 quotations (one from Native Son and 5 others) and each item on the list must contain at least one quotation. Divide the list among your group as you see fit.

For homework write a journal response based on the completed chart. For your response, you should:
- Identify clusters and patterns that you see in the quotations from the listed sources. Name them. What common themes or topics emerge from this work (i.e. power, justice, resistance, violence, direct action, pride, unity, or identity)?
- Continue to consider the ideas that arise from the quotations- what are they saying about your identified clusters, patterns, or themes?
- In what other ways do you notice links or connections? Are there some that are similar and others that are contrasting? Which ones fit together and which don't?
The response will be a guide for the project that you'll create.
