For your first semester final exam, we have selected seven documents from across the different units we’ve studied that represent some of the key themes and ideas from our year so far. These documents are:

• “Liberty and Knowledge” - John Adams (AR 24)
• “Self-Reliance” - Ralph Waldo Emerson
• “Civil Disobedience” - Henry David Thoreau
• “What is the Meaning of the 4th of July to the Negro?” - Frederick Douglass (AR 202 + ending)
• “Second Inaugural Address”- Abraham Lincoln (AR 263)
• “How it Feels to be Colored Me” - Zora Neale Hurston
• “Letter from Birmingham City Jail” - Martin Luther King, Jr.

        You will gather details about all of them by completing a chart for the seven documents.

Semester I Final Exam Seven Documents Chart

To do this, you will spend time re-reading your journal, looking over your notes, and reviewing google documents we created in class. The chart will include 2-3 quotations, personal observations, and notes about its main idea. You will complete this chart over the weekend.
