Card Collage Activity

Today we used our note cards to try to identify categories or ideas that emerged from our American Studies this year. We then reshuffled to identify a sequence of connections. We formalized each of these in a piece of writing that will serve as an annotation for your set of notecards. Here are the prompts:
Categories
1) List the categories.
2) Choose one category to write about. What do the cards say about that category? What did you discover about that category?
3) Look across all categories. What does it all add up to? What story do they tell about the United States or about our American Studies?
Sequence
1) What did you discover about your sequence? What's different about what you see in the sequence as opposed to the categories? Are there different ideas or voices?
2) What title would you give to your sequence of cards and why?
3) Choose one link between two cards and explore that link. What was the connection? Why did you link those particular cards?

We then introduced Part I of the 2nd Semester Final.

Strongly suggested pacing to prepare and write your final:
1) Finish reflection/annotation for notecards (Done in class today)
2) HW for Thursday: Select 4 pieces for annotations and find connections (use notecards to help make connections). Write 2 annotations.
4) HW for Friday: Finish annotations
5) Over the weekend, write Part II.
6) Turn in final by 8:10 AM on Monday, June 5.
